School Linking
Linking your school with another in Africa, Asia, Latin America or the Pacific offers you an exciting vehicle for building a global dimension in your school curriculum. 
 
One World Network North East works in partnership with DfID Global School Partnerships team, based at the British Council in Edinburgh.
 
The support available to build a Global School Partnership includes:
 
Consultation / Staff meeting with OWNNE Schools Officer
  • Advice about finding a partner school
  • Training and information on Teaching resources to build a global dimension in the school curriculum
  • Help to complete funding applications to the British Council
  • 'Making the Most of It' training to prepare for overseas visits
  • Accredited training sessions for teachers across the region to build a Global School Partnership
  • Networking meetings to build peer support within Local Authority areas.
DfID Global School Partnerships (DGSP) Grants and Training
  • DGSP is a specialist team within the British Council, working separately from the European Links teams; see the list of eligible countries by clicking here
  • The purpose of DGSP is to ensure a global dimension in the curriculum underpins the School Linking process.
  • DGSP awards Grants for Reciprocal Visits and Curriculum Development Projects. 
  • The team has also developed a series of training packages which have been trialled with teachers across the UK (including the North East), as well as in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean.
  • The team works alongside One World Network North East and will be launching the final version of the training sessions in the Summer Term 2007.

TEACHERS' INTERNATION PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
TIPD visits offer teachers the opportunity to travel, with support, to developing countries in order to gain both personal and professional development.
